Why Do People Choose to be Driven in Limousines?

Why Do People Choose to be Driven in Luxury Vehicles?

When it comes to being driven around in a limo, most people think it’s all about whether you can afford it or not…

It isn’t.

Fair enough, it comes at a premium – although you can get it at lower rates than usual if you know where to look.

But the people who choose to pay the extra fee for the service are people with specific expectations – and not all of them are rich.

When it comes to medium distance trips…

Here are 5 reasons why people prefer to be driven in a limo rather than flying:

1. The occasion warrants a luxury vehicle

Many people (who wouldn’t normally look at renting a luxurious car) make exceptions for special occasions. After all, if those occasions are to be memorable, then it’s all about the details, right?

It’s commonplace for people to rent upmarket vehicles and limousines for weddings and funerals. It’s also common for occasions like your kid’s prom night, high school reunions, graduations, birthdays, wedding anniversaries, etc.

Business people rent them to celebrate signing big deals and for product launches, and lawyers rent them to go and celebrate winning big cases.

When your next occasion or event comes around, ask yourself:

How much does the occasion really mean to you?

2. You are used to quality

If you lead a successful – or fairly successful lifestyle, you have most likely become accustomed to being surrounded by quality. Besides residing in a better class neighbourhood, you most likely drive a higher quality vehicle, own upmarket furniture, and you are accustomed to having some space.

As such, it is only logical that, when being driven around town or between towns, you would prefer to be surrounded by quality materials, sufficient space and a quiet travel environment. After all, if you worked that hard to get to where you are, why would you subject yourself to being surrounded by cheap plastics, cramped rear seats, and loads of wind/tire/engine noise for several hours?

3. Making a statement

Let’s face it: Perception is everything, especially in specific circumstances. Do you have an important business meeting? Or are you meeting up with people who could become business connections later on?

If you arrive there in your old beat-up hatchback, they may not take a second look at you. But if you happen to arrive there in a Caddy they are more likely to take you seriously.

You may want to impress a lady. You may want to impress your old high school friends at a reunion. Whatever the occasion, there are times when making a statement is exactly what you need to do.

4. You want to be treated differently

When you take a cab, and even when you take a flight, many people feel (rightly so) like cattle being herded for transportation. Everything happens in a rush, and it’s all about pushing the numbers and getting the job done (for them).

If, on the other hand, you choose to rent a limo with a driver, the mere price bracket puts you in a different space of clientele, and as such you are immediately treated with respect and professionalism.

5. It’s less stressful than flying

Fair enough, if you want to travel from say, Calgary to San Francisco, flying makes sense. But if you want to travel from say, Edmonton to Calgary, or in any radius of up to say, 300 miles or so, taking a flight becomes a hectic, draining experience, with little time spent in the air.

Ironically, being driven from door to door over the same distance takes roughly the same amount of time, and it costs roughly the same as taking a flight (and two taxis) would.

In conclusion:

While many people think that “only rich people” rent limos with their drivers, the reality is a little different. Not all people with money choose to travel in luxury. Those who do, do so for specific reasons.

At the end of the day, it comes down to the value you place on yourself, your time and – when it’s relevant – the occasion.

Luxury car travel is about YOU.

Note: It is possible to travel – in luxury – between Edmonton and Calgary at both rates and times comparable to taking a flight, but without all the hassle.
